Best AI tools for financial advisors (2026)
Updated Oct 17, 2026 · Prices as of Oct 2026 · Some links may be affiliate links (disclosure)
What to buy first: an AI meeting assistant built for advisors. Jump or Zocks will save a solo advisor four to six hours a week of notes, follow-up emails and CRM updates. Pair it with a CRM you already know. If you are choosing one, Wealthbox is the easiest to live in and Redtail is the cheaper, broker-dealer-friendly pick.
After that, the tool that changes client conversations is Holistiplan for tax return analysis. Get compliance sign-off on every one of these before the first client meeting.
Review meeting, start to finish
- Monday 4:00 p.m.: the meeting assistant builds a prep sheet for Wednesday's review: last meeting's notes, open tasks, account changes and the kids' names.
- Tuesday 10:00 a.m.: the clients upload last year's tax return. Holistiplan flags room for a partial Roth conversion before they hit the next bracket.
- Wednesday 2:00 p.m.: the meeting starts. You ask permission for the note assistant. They say yes.
- 2:55: the meeting ends. Within minutes you have a summary, a list of action items and a draft follow-up email.
- 3:10: you fix one number in the email, remove a line about a rollover you did not actually recommend and send it.
- 3:12: tasks land in the CRM for your ops person: beneficiary update, new 529 account, a reminder to revisit the conversion in November.
- Thursday: the planning software runs the conversion scenario so you can show the long-term effect at the next check-in.

What a stack costs per year
Solo advisor, about 80 households, keeping it lean. Redtail Launch at $39, Zocks Essentials at $67 and RightCapital Basic at $149.95. That is about $256 a month, or $3,070 a year. Add Holistiplan Basic at the 100-household tier, $1,949 a year, and you are near $5,000.
Solo advisor who wants the smoother tools. Wealthbox Pro $75, Jump $100, RightCapital Premium $209.95 and the same Holistiplan tier. About $385 a month plus $1,949 a year, so roughly $6,600 a year. On a practice billing $500,000, that is about 1.3 percent of revenue.
Three advisors and two operations staff. Wealthbox Pro for five users is $375. Jump for three advisors is $300. RightCapital Premium for three is about $630, plus two assistant seats at $40. Holistiplan Premium adds $5,499. Total around $22,100 a year before custodial and portfolio tools.
Compliance comes before convenience
Get written approval from your CCO for any AI tool that touches client data. Bring them the vendor's security documents, retention settings and a sample note.
- Ask whether the tool keeps recordings, transcripts or only notes, and how long each is stored.
- Confirm notes and follow-up emails are archived with your other communications.
- Never let an AI email go out unread. A draft that says "as we discussed, rolling over your 401(k)" can read like a recommendation you did not make.
- Move all client texting to an archived tool. Off-channel messages are an easy exam finding.
Small jobs AI does well
Outside meetings, general AI is handy for writing that has no client data in it. Your quarterly market letter is the obvious one. Give it your three main points and your own phrasing, and ask for 400 words at a ninth-grade reading level. Then edit, and run it past compliance as usual.
It also helps with explainer pages for your website: how a backdoor Roth works, what an RMD is, why you charge the fee you charge. Clients read those before they call you.
Keep account numbers, names and balances out of consumer chat apps. Those belong only in approved tools.
Setting it up in a week
- Pick the notetaker first and connect it to your calendar and CRM. Test on internal meetings.
- Write your follow-up email template. The AI fills it in; your voice stays the same across clients.
- Add the consent line to your meeting confirmations.
- Map AI action items to CRM task types so nothing lands in a general inbox.
- Load five client tax returns into Holistiplan and look for one talking point per household.
- Review a month of AI notes with compliance and adjust settings before you call it done.
Our picks, plainly
Solo, broker-dealer affiliated: use the CRM your BD supports, often Redtail, and add Jump or Zocks if the BD approves it. Ask early, since approval can take weeks.
Solo RIA: Wealthbox Pro plus Jump. It is the setup with the least friction. If budget is tight, Zocks Essentials saves $33 a month over Jump on annual billing.
Growing team: Zocks Professional is worth a look if you want workflows across the firm. Its admin assistant seat at $25 keeps support staff costs down.
Everyone doing planning: Holistiplan. It turns tax returns, which clients already have, into a reason to meet.
Weak points to know
AI notes can be confidently wrong about numbers. A client says "about two hundred" and the summary says "$200,000 in the brokerage account." Check every figure.
Per-seat costs stack fast. A team can easily spend more on AI notes than on the CRM.
Some clients are uneasy about any recording, especially older clients and business owners. Respect a no.
Planning software on annual contracts is hard to drop. RightCapital requires an annual commitment for the first year, so use the free trial fully before you sign.

FAQ
What is the best AI notetaker for financial advisors?
Jump and Zocks are the two built for advisors. Jump is $100 per advisor a month for its meeting assistant. Zocks starts at $67 a month on annual billing and can capture notes without keeping a recording, which some compliance teams prefer. Both push notes and tasks into the common advisor CRMs. Try each on five real meetings before deciding.
Do AI meeting notes count as books and records?
Treat them as if they do. Notes, summaries and follow-up emails about client accounts are business records for most firms, so they need to be kept and retrievable. Ask your CCO or compliance consultant to approve the tool, the retention settings and where the data lives before you use it with clients.
Do I need client consent to record meetings?
Yes, get it every time. Several states require every party to consent to a recording, and clients have a right to know. Put it in your meeting confirmation email and ask at the start: 'I use a note assistant so I can focus on you. Is that okay?' Most say yes. Keep a manual option for those who do not.
Can I text clients from my cell phone?
Not for business, unless the messages are captured and archived. The SEC and FINRA have fined firms heavily for off-channel texting. Use an archived texting service such as MyRepChat, which starts at $25 a month, or the texting tool your broker-dealer or custodian approves.
Is Holistiplan worth it for a small practice?
If you do any tax planning conversation with clients, it usually is. It reads a tax return in a minute or two and flags things like Roth conversion room, IRMAA thresholds and missed deductions. The Basic plan for 30 households is $749 a year. That works out to about $25 per household per year.
Wealthbox or Redtail?
Wealthbox if you want the easiest CRM to learn and use daily. Redtail if you want a lower price, wide broker-dealer support and built-in archived texting on its Growth plan. Both connect to the major AI notetakers. If your broker-dealer already provides one, use that and save the fight.
